Dranjer FR2 Floor Drain Seal

Seals an existing floor drain against radon and soil gas, and water still drains freely.

An open floor drain lets radon, soil gases and odours come up into the basement. The FR2 blocks them. When water comes in, the valve opens and the water drains the way it always has.

It goes in under the strainer plate you already have and takes a few minutes. The FR2 is made by Dranjer, a Canadian company in Winnipeg.

How it works

Inside the FR2 is a brass valve with a sealing ring. When water flows into the drain, the ring lifts and the water runs through. When the flow stops, the ring settles back onto its seat and the drain is sealed again.

Installation

1. Lift out the existing strainer plate.
2. Set the FR2 under the strainer plate.
3. Push the plate, with the FR2 under it, back into the drain opening. Friction between the strainer, the FR2 and the floor ring holds it in place.
4. Trim any excess rubber flange.

Common questions

Will it fit my floor drain?
It fits drain pipes larger than 2 in (5.08 cm). The part that sits below the floor is 3.25 in (8.26 cm) deep and 1.7 in (4.32 cm) wide. The 8 in (20.32 cm) rubber flange is trimmed to fit your drain.

Will water still drain?
Yes. The sealing ring lifts when water enters and reseats once the flow stops, so the drain works normally and stays sealed the rest of the time.

Is it made for homes with a radon fan?
Yes. Dranjer designed the FR2 for homes with sub-slab depressurization systems, and it has been engineered and tested in the lab and in the field.

How many do I need?
The FR2 is sold individually, so order one for each floor drain you're sealing.
