The Fantech HERO HS300 is a whole-house HEPA filtration appliance that connects to your forced-air heating and cooling system to clean the air in every room. It uses two-stage filtration, an activated carbon pre-filter followed by a true HEPA filter, to capture allergens, dust, smoke, and odors. A built-in fan and bypass design means it filters up to 300 CFM of air without restricting your HVAC system's airflow. Recommended for homes up to 3,000 square feet.

Radon and indoor air quality

The HS300 is an air-cleaning appliance for particles and odors. It does not remove radon gas, which is a separate soil-gas concern addressed by an active radon mitigation system. It is, however, a strong complement to a healthy-home strategy alongside radon testing and mitigation, capturing the fine particulate and allergens that ventilation alone does not. Health Canada's guideline for indoor radon is 200 Bq/m3; if you are unsure of your level, test with a certified radon test kit.

Is this a filter or the full unit? This is the complete whole-house HEPA filtration appliance, including the built-in fan, carbon pre-filter, and HEPA filter. Replacement filters are sold separately.

Does it remove radon? No. HEPA filtration captures particles and odors, not radon gas. Radon is addressed by an active sub-slab depressurization system. The HS300 complements a healthy-home approach by cleaning particulate that ventilation alone does not.

How often do I change the filters? Replace the carbon pre-filter (#463046) every 3 to 6 months and the HEPA filter (#463048) once a year under normal use.

Where does it install? On the return air plenum of a forced-air system, or ducted using the included 8-inch collars. It can go in a basement, closet, heated crawl space, garage, or attic.
