RadonAway Easy Read U-Tube Manometer – 0–4.5" (Blue)
The industry-standard system performance indicator for residential radon mitigation systems.
The RadonAway 4.5" Easy Read U-Tube Manometer provides a clear, at-a-glance confirmation that a radon mitigation system is operating properly. Installed in over one million homes, it is the most widely used system monitor in the radon industry. It is packaged as part of a System Monitoring and Homeowner Information packet that complies with current radon mitigation standards.
Required by Canadian radon mitigation standards — every active sub-slab depressurization system must include a visible system performance indicator. This manometer meets that requirement.
This device does NOT measure radon levels. It measures vacuum pressure (negative pressure) in the radon pipe, confirming your fan is pulling air from beneath the slab.
Application
Used as a visual system monitor on active radon mitigation systems to verify fan operation. Commonly installed on the system piping in basements or utility areas. Suitable for most residential radon fans including the RadonAway RP145, RP265, GX3, and GX4.
Features
- 0–4.5" water column (WC) range — covers the majority of residential radon fan systems
- Non-toxic blue indicator fluid — easy to read from across a room
- Adjustable zero reference for accurate levelling
- Curved molded scale fits directly onto round PVC radon pipe — no brackets or adapters needed
- Complete labelling and documentation kit included — meets current AARST OM&M requirements
- Made in the USA with U.S. and imported parts

Important: Choose the Right Range
This manometer reads 0–4.5" WC and is not suitable for systems generating more than 4.5" of vacuum. If you are installing a RadonAway GX5A or another high-suction fan capable of exceeding 4.5" WC, use the 6.5" Easy Read U-Tube Manometer (P/N 50036) instead.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a manometer required on every radon system in Canada?
Yes. Canadian radon mitigation standards require every active sub-slab depressurization system to have a visible system performance indicator. The U-tube manometer is the standard solution used by C-NRPP certified mitigators across the country.
Where should I install it?
Mount it on the radon pipe in a readily visible indoor location — typically on the vertical pipe section in the basement or mechanical room, below the fan. It must be readable by the homeowner without tools or special access.
What does a normal reading look like?
When the system is operating, the blue fluid column will be deflected (uneven). The greater the deflection, the stronger the sub-slab suction. A flat, level fluid column means the fan is not running or the system has a leak — investigate immediately.
Does this measure radon levels?
No. It measures vacuum pressure in the pipe, not radon concentration. To measure actual radon levels you need a radon detector or test kit. The manometer confirms the mitigation system is actively pulling air from beneath your slab.
Can I use this with any radon fan?
Yes — as long as the fan's operating vacuum does not exceed 4.5" WC. This covers most residential radon fans including the RadonAway RP145, RP265, GX3, and GX4. For the GX5A or other high-suction applications, use the 6.5" model (P/N 50036).
What's the difference between the blue and red versions?
Function and accuracy are identical. The only difference is fluid color — blue (P/N 50017) or red (P/N 50018). Choose whichever is more visible against your pipe and wall color.
